This year's theme – Protecting children from tobacco industry interference. Life is too precious to smoke tobacco and therefore, we must save ourselves from it. World No Tobacco Day aims to draw attention to the business practices of tobacco companies to capture generations of consumers and their interference in policy decisions that undermine effective tobacco control. Tobacco use is a major risk factor for several types of cancer. Here are some cancers that can be caused by tobacco use:
Lung Cancer: Smoking tobacco products, including cigarettes and cigars, is responsible for almost 9 out of every 10 cases of lung cancer1. Second hand smoke exposure can also contribute to lung cancer.
Oral Cavity and Throat Cancers: Tobacco use increases the risk of cancers in the mouth, throat, and voice box (larynx).
Esophageal Cancer: Tobacco consumption is associated with oesophageal cancer.
Stomach Cancer: Smoking and other forms of tobacco use can lead to stomach cancer.
Bladder Cancer: Tobacco use is a risk factor for bladder cancer.
In home children done posters, elocution and a short video created by our volunteers about harmful side effects of tobacco usage. Our home coordinator Mr. Govindaraj give an outstanding session about harmful effects of tobacco.
